Pied Paddy Skimmer (immature male), from Thattekad Sanctuary, Kerala

For males, wings are black in color near the base, white in the middle and transparent toward the tip, Thorax and abdomen are black. Immature dragonfly has white stripe on the body.

Female from Cheruvally, Kerala

Females have yellowish abdomen and thorax with black linings. Wings are transparent with two brown patches at the middle and tip.

They are usually slow in flight and rest on low lying twigs and leaf blades.
