This is the most common Bulbul species found here. They are very friendly to humans. They mainly feed on fruits and insects, and sometimes forage on the ground in search of food. See the below photo which was taken from my home yard itself.

These two photos (above and below) were taken from Vagamon, a major attraction in the Western Ghats of Kerala.

Vagamon is 23 kilometers from Erattupetta and 44 kilometers from Mundakayam, by road. The place is beautiful with its green meadows and tea plantations. Kurisumala is another major point of interest.
Vagamon is also rich in bird diversities. Jungle Mynas, Robins, Bulbuls etc are seen in large numbers, along with other birds.
Red Whiskered Bulbul has white underparts, brown upperparts and tail. Head is black with a long pointed crest, which makes it different. There are red patches below the eyes. The bird belongs to the family of Bulbuls, Pycnonotidae, and its scientific name is Pycnonotus jocosus.
