Plain Tiger Butterfly is a very common species in Kerala, and can be seen in different topographies. These butterflies are usually spared by their enemies like birds due to their toxicity.

It is a milkweed butterfly (Danainae) and belongs to the family Nymphalidae. Generally feeds on Calotropis plants.
Scientific name: Danaus chrysippus.
Malayalam name: Erikkuthappi.
