Location

It is located by the sides of Manarcadu – Thiruvanchoor road at Palmury, near Thiruvanchoor. And the place is 2.7 km from Manarcadu junction (Kottayam-Kumily Road). The road is a part of the bypass connecting Manarkadu and Ettumanoor. While coming from Manarkadu, take left after about half a kilometer and drive straight for about 2 more kilometers to reach the spot.

The project is undertaken by the nearby Residents Association; the work should be appreciated indeed. The inauguration was in 2011. The place has benches for relaxing, toys and other entertainments for children, a small library and so on. Freshly prepared snacks are also sold by Kudumbashree members, which includes some of Kerala’s own recipes. Cultural programs are also conducted here often.

The word ‘Nalumanikattu’ means 4’O clock breeze. As the name suggests, the activities starts everyday at 4’O clock. And it lasts till about 9’O clock or more depending on the number of visitors. Most of the vehicles passing by use to stop there and spent some time. The place will also be crowded on holidays and during festival season. It is beautiful with the views of green paddy fields on both sides. Sunset and sunrise can be watched from here. Trees are planted across the sides which provide shade, and new saplings are also being planted. Considering the fact that it was earlier a dumping yard, the project is a great movement towards environmental conservation.
